Response Format
Our API returns data in JSON format, including:
  • Container details (ID, type, size)
  • Current location (latitude, longitude)
  • Vessel information
  • ETA and updated timestamp
  • Port of loading and discharge
  • Shipment status and events
API Input
Required Input :
MANDATORY : Shipment ID (one from the 3 possibilities)
  • Container number (seven numbers and four letters used for identifying containers internationally)
  • Booking number (usually consist of two letters and six digits)
  • Bill of Lading number (ten-digit number that's assigned by the carrier to identify the bill of lading)
Optional Input :
  • RECOMMENDED : Sealine SCAC code (4 digits alphanumeric character string, uniquely identifying the sealine)
  • RECOMMENDED : Shipment type (CT, BL or BK)
  • OPTIONAL : route (if set to true, the response will contain the route data)
  • OPTIONAL : ais (if set to true, the response will contain the ais data)

What is the difference between the Container Tracking API and webhooks?
The Container Tracking API is synchronous: you request data. Webhooks are asynchronous: SafeCube pushes container events to your endpoint as they happen, with no polling.
How do I verify that a webhook is authentic?
Each endpoint has a signing secret used to sign the payload. You can retrieve it and rotate it, and the previous secret stays valid for 24 hours after rotation.
What happens if my endpoint is down?
Failed messages can be resent. Recovery replays all failed messages since a given time, and replay sends messages created after a chosen timestamp without resending ones already delivered.
Can webhooks replace API calls entirely?
Yes. Used as a PUSH API, webhooks update your data automatically without any Container Tracking API request.
How do I test my endpoint before going live?
Send an example message for a specific event type. It delivers demo data rather than real tracking data, and only for events configured on that endpoint.
