What does the Underwater Noise API measure?
The Sound Exposure Level, expressed in pascal squared second, plus noise emissions across multiple frequencies for a port-to-port voyage.
Does it tell me whether I exceed thresholds?
Yes. The response includes booleans indicating whether the noise emitted is above the recommended thresholds for that voyage.
What inputs are required?
A vessel IMO or MMSI, plus a departure port and an arrival port identified by their 5-character UN/LOCODE.
How is the estimate produced?
SafeCube models the port-to-port journey and combines it with a database of ship physical characteristics to estimate noise emission.
